It’s officially gotten way too cold in Toronto. Last night it dipped below -20 with the wind chill and I was not a happy camper.
Luckily there was beer to save me!
Specifically we had a few cans of Winterweiss sitting around to warm the cockles of our hearts.
Winterweiss is a seasonal brew by the folks at Muskoka Brewing. This beer is a Dunkelweizen which means you can expect lots of spicy notes. It’s a german style wheat beer which makes me assume there will be some banana.
You can purchase a can of Winterweiss at the LCBO for $3 and it sits at exactly 5% ABV.
Appearance: Soda brown with thick off-white head. Unfiltered.
Aroma: Chocolate and sour cherry. Cinnomen as well.
Taste: Very rich. More sour cherry but vanilla takes over quickly. Clove makes an appearance too.
Aftertaste: Short and dry.
Overall: A very enjoyable Weiss. One of my favourites this winter.
