I’m surprised I haven’t reviewed Waterloo Brewing Co yet! I was born and raised in the area and certainly drank my fair share of Waterloo Dark well growing up.
A few days ago I discovered that they have released a dunkel! My memory is a bit hazy but I don’t remember them having a dunkel while growing up so I had to grab a can.
A dunkel is a German style beer that is generally spicy and malty. It’s considered a ‘spring’ beer but can be consumed whenever the hell you want.
You can purchase a can at the LCBO for $2.75 and it sits at 6.1% ABV.
Appearance: Filtered. White head. Hazelnut coloured.
Aroma: Sour cherries. Leather. Clove.
Taste: Smooth and light mouth feel. Cinnomen and cloves. Milk chocolate.
Aftertaste: Cinnomen Hearts.
Overall: A great complex dunkel to warm your heart this spring.
