I grew up in the Kitchener/Waterloo area so I am no stranger to Guelph (and Cambridge!). The problem is that I didn’t get into craft beer until well after I had moved on to bigger cities!
Luckily, some of the beers made in those great cities are available at the LCBO, and I am incredibly glad I can easily get my hands on some Royal City beer!
Today I am sampling the ‘Smoked Honey’ and I bet you can guess some of the flavours to expect from that! I like anything smoked so of course I had to grab a bottle.
You can purchase this beer at the LCBO for $3.95 a bottle and it sits at 5.5% ABV.
Appearance: Soda brown. Very little head.
Aroma: Coffee first and rye bread. Brown sugar. Caramel.
Taste: Smokey with light Honey notes. Just as described. Bitter dark coffee and vanilla.
Aftertaste: Almost none but dry.
Overall: Nice and refreshing. Well blended.
