This weekend we attempted to visit Mascot Brewery down on Mercer St. While their facebook page and Twitter both implied it was open (and serving brunch) the place was sadly closed.

In our frustration we (and others who had come in search of Mascot) headed over to Bar Hop. While there I discovered this little guy on tap. An ESB (one of my favourite styles) on a nitro tap!

I immediately ordered a pint and as you can see, it was beautiful.

I did some research and can’t seem to find where Bar Hop contracts out of for their beer. I’ll update this if I find out.

This was a part of their $5 pours for a Sunday, which is such an awesome promotion.

You can only purchase this at Bar Hop and it was $5 for a pint on Sunday. I do not know the ABV.

Appearance: Filtered. Red and brown. White creamy head.
Aroma: Soft tropic fruit like mango and toasted malt.
Taste: Very soft mouth feel. More toasted malts that remind me of toasted coconut with mango. Some banana. Chocolate and vanilla.
Aftertaste: dry and short.
Overall: Very nice and smooth.
