We discovered this gem by Lake of Bays while searching for a place to watch a Montreal Canadians Playoff game.
Yes, Toronto fans, there is a post season for other teams.
We hopped into a nearby sports bar and this beer just happened to be on tap for a discount during the game.
Lets just say we had quite a bit of it. One thing we noted was on that incredibly hot day it was an insanely refreshing beer.
The Top Shelf Lager is a classic lager, so I would expect some soft biscuit or bread notes with only a hint of hops to balance it. This beer is also the ‘official’ beer of the NHL Alumni Association. According to their website this beer won Silver in the Ontario Brewing Awards.
You can purchase Top Shelf Lager at the LCBO for $2.40, it sits at 4.5% ABV.
Appearance: Nice burnt gold. Pure white head. Filtered.
Aroma: Very light biscuit scents.
Taste: The biscuit stays but is joined by light tropical notes like orange.
Aftertaste: A short dry bitterness.
Overall: A refreshing summer beer.
