We recently made the trek down to Guelph for a family function and luckily we had time to visit Wellington Brewery!

We were intrigued by the alien looking offering you see above. According to them it’s a brown ale with a nice hoppy profile. Makes us think of the much debated black IPA but what’s in a name? All we care about is tasty beer!

This beer is part of their ‘Re-Booted’ series, and while a clever name it’s hard to call this a reboot when they have made it every single year. Maybe time to drop the pretense and just call it a seasonal!

Sadly I can’t currently find this fine beer in the LCBO database but it seems it will be there soon! It sits at 5.9% ABV.

Appearance: Brown, unfiltered. Thick Lasting off-white head.
Aroma: Light plums, coffee and raisons.
Taste: Very hoppy but with brown coffee notes and surprisingly thick mouth feel. Hint of rye.
Aftertaste: Bitter and Lasting.
Overall: A nice beer for the spring. Goes well with duck or chicken.
