We fell in love with Social Lite when they first released their Lime Ginger drink. It was a first for us: a pre-packaged mix drink that we actually enjoyed.
When they came to us and offered up a can of their new Pineapple Mango we jumped at the chance.
The main thing that we like about their products is that they don’t add any sweetener. Most off the shelf mix drinks are thick and filled to the brim with sugar, these products are not.
Their marketing material mentions that their drink is best when sipped right from the can. We generally disagree with this as it makes it impossible to properly smell the drink. They said you could lose some carbonation when pouring the drink into a glass. I guess it’s up to you how you enjoy it.
I don’t currently have pricing as the LCBO website has not listed the product yet but the Lime Ginger is $9.95 for a pack of 4 and we assume that this will be the same. It sits at 4% ABV.
Appearance: Clear, filtered and artificially carbonated just like the original.
Aroma: Hardcore mango and juicy fruit.
Taste: Way more subdued than the smell. Hint of lime comes in after the light mango.
Aftertaste: Light lingering juicy fruit.
Overall: Lighter flavour than the smell, probably good on a hot day. Don’t pair with anything. Drinking out of the can hides the smell if you are not into the sweeter smell.
