I absolutely love Bolshevik Bastard. It’s a beautifully made imperial stout.
So when the boys from Nickel Brook Brewing went ahead and aged it in Kentucky bourbon barrels you can imagine how excited I got.
Sadly I only purchased one bottle, I might have to go get another to try and cellar it. Or maybe 3 so I can cellar them all to different years and see how the flavour evolves!
You can purchase Kentucky Bastard at the lCBO for $13.95 a bottle and it sits at a wonderful 12% ABV.
Appearance: The colour of my soul. Brown head that fades fast.
Aroma: Vanilla, dark chocolate and cinnomen. Black coffee and toffee.
Taste: More toasty coffee and lots of super dark chocolate. Oily thick mouth feel. Alcohol warmth.
Aftertaste: Long and Lingering.
Overall: Wow.
