We went to a wedding last weekend. It was absolutely insane but that’s not the point of this point. The point is that on the way home my brother’s flight was delayed, giving us some free time.
We decided to spend that time driving to Barncat Artisan Ales, a brand new brewery in Cambridge, Ontario. They have a tiny system in the heart of a random industrial building but already have a great following, even though they’ve only been open for a few weeks so far!
We tried all the beers there but ended up falling in love with Archer, an oatmeal porter. We ended up grabbing a growler and drank it fresh to write this review.
Sadly Archer is not available at the LCBO. Instead you’ll have to head to the brewery itself! They have both growlers and howlers available at great prices. Archer sits at 5.2% ABV.
Appearance: Black with a brown coffee like head that fades fast
Aroma: Smokey and sweet. Like caramel and a cigar.
Taste: Bitter but then smokey. Burnt coffee.
Aftertaste: Lingering and dark.
Overall: A unique Porter. Great for scotch and coffee lovers.
