It’s almost time for the Toronto Festival of Beer and as is the tradition here, we have a bit of a preview of what to expect at the festival dedicated to one of our favourite drinks.

The basics:
There are 4 sessions from Thursday July 26 until Sunday July 29th. Each day has a different set of live bands playing but otherwise will have the same amazing selection of beer and food.
The new stuff:
Every year they surprise us with new features to the festival and this year is no exception.
Instead of one “spotlight” which has traditionally been a section of the event dedicated to a country they are doing 3: Funk Town, Women in Beer and Victoria.
Funk Town: This spotlight will feature Ontario made sour beers. You can see the list of participating breweries by clicking here. We find a good sour beer is perfect on a hot day so we assume this is going to be a popular spot!
Women in Beer: In partnership with the Society of Beer Drinking Ladies this TFOB spotlight will feature 14 beers made by women. 5 of the beers are direct collaborations with the SOBDL while the others are made by women in the industry.
Victoria: Similar to past years where they featured Sweden and Ireland, this year they are putting the spotlight on Victoria BC. Make sure to try some beer you aren’t able to get in Ontario!
What else to check out:
As always there is a TON of stuff to check out. This year there will be over 416 beers to sample (from over 90 breweries) and a huge amount of food from places like Oyster Boy, Jerk Brothers, Hot Bunzz and more. You most definitely will not go hungry.
There will be lots of amazing music from Broken Social Scene on Thursday to I Mother Earth on Sunday and lots in between.
As always we recommend spending your time at the Ontario Craft Beer area that will have lots of new beers for you to try.
