It takes chutzpah for someone who works in the travel industry to write about a beer called Flight Delay on one of the busiest travel days of the year. At this time of year, flight delays are my nemesis, and make me wonder of Bubby’s inquisitive, “What are you doing with your life?!” isn’t actually misguided. Oy vey. But it’s Saturday and I’ve got the day off to spin the dreidl, on this rare year where the first night of Chanukah aligns with Christmas Eve. So here’s to hoping none of my clients have any flight delays, m’kay?
Flight Delay IPA from Barnstormer Brewing clocks in at a wee heavy 6.5% ABV and 85 IBU. I guess I’d be bitter too if I had a flight delay, or if I made the trek down up to Barrie, ON this weekend. Instead, I’m hosting Christmas dinner, like any good confused Jew who dislikes Christmas. At least Festivus was yesterday, and we all survived the feats of strength and airing of grievances. What, you wanted me to write about the beer? At only $3.05 for a 473 ml can, you can buy a can at your local LCBO with all your newfound Chanukah gelt. Unless you got socks again, like me.
Appearance: Golden amber colour, lasting off-white head.
Aroma: Heavy on the citrus aroma from the hops. Tangerine, lime peel, Tropicana orange juice. Very typical west coast IPA aroma. Hop forward.
Taste: Mango and pink grapefruit on the palate, pomelo rind.
Aftertaste: Grassy aftertaste, light biscuity finish.
Suggested food pairing: Potato latkes and nagging about your life choices.
Overall: A good option to wash down the greasy food you’re about to indulge in for the next 8 crazy nights.
