That title is quite the mouthful!
I should start by explaining Beaus B-Sides. Basically it is beer made using Beaus equipment but with recipes by other breweries. In this case Gigantic Brewing out of Portland. Does this disqualify it as Ontario beer? I don’t know but I’m going to review it regardless:
This beer is a Belgo IPA by their own naming. They describe it as combining the strong hop aromas of an American IPA with the spiciness of a Belgian style beer.
We had this bottle out in the backyard split between two balloon style glasses.
You can purchase a bottle at the LCBO for $5.25 and it sits at 6.9% ABV.
Appearance: Unfiltered gold. Nice white head.
Aroma: Nice and bitter. Pine hops and a bit juicy with tropical fruits.
Taste: More of the tropical fruits like pineapple with only a bit of pine. Almost no malt to speak of. Not picking up any of the spiciness they advertise. The hops might hide it too much.
Aftertaste: The bitterness of the hops.
Overall: A great IPA.
