Yesterday was St. Patrick’s Day so we went to our local and had ourselves a pint of Strong Patrick by Beaus. It just seemed fitting!
Strong Patrick is an Irish style red ale that has been ‘intensified’ which basically just means it has a higher ABV than normal.
Red Ales are known to be malty with aromas of toasted malt and caramel. It is generally a lighter beer.
While Strong Patrick has been available at the LCBO in the past, it no longer seems to be listed. You CAN find it at local bars across Toronto though. We had our’s at Dave’s on St Clair.
Strong Patrick sits at 6.7% ABV.
Appearance: Deep red. Short head that fades fast. Filtered.
Aroma: Caramel and toffee.
Taste: Roasted coffee and Caramel. Hint of vanilla.
Aftertaste: Lasting sweetness and fresh bread.
Overall: I really enjoyed it. Had it paired with a great burger. Would recommend doing the same!
