Rainhard has basically become our “regular” craft brewery.
It’s within a reasonable streetcar ride from us and there is always something new and interesting to try when we get there.
Today I finally got around to doing a proper tasting of True Grit, a beer they have had for quite some time. I’ve had the beer numerous times while at the brewery but only had a chance to review it properly recently.
Jordan (the head brewer) is best known for his IPA’s so it’s always fun to see what he does with other styles.
A Brett Saison is a Belgian style which is very yeast forward. The yeast should give it a funky taste.
True Grit is currently not available in the LCBO but keep your eyes peeled, it may show up there soon enough. It sits at 6% ABV. The beer is not currently available so check with the brewery for pricing when it’s released again.
Appearance: Light golden hay. Thick white head that stays.
Aroma: Citrus first, lime peel. Then a bit of clove and banana.
Taste: Clove and citrus takes over the tongue. A bit of mint.
Aftertaste: Short and dry. Not much too it.
Overall: Will go well with fresh fish and fruit. Keep it simple. Great for a patio.
